365 Days Of Potential
A new year has begun, doesn't really mean much other than I have to start worry about how much those immoral, illegal, un-constitutional, thieving bastards at the IRS are going to steal from me for last year. In spite of that, I like to think of this upcoming year as full of unrealized potential. I don't make New Year's Resolutions for the most part they are just wishful thinking and pointless, but I do have some goals that which I would like to achieve during this new year. These are, in no particular order:
-Successfully pay my Boy's private school tuition for the 03-04 school year
-Start saving to pay my Boy's private school tuition for the 04-05 school year
-Learn to play the fife proficiently (the fool thing ain't easy. It has way too many moving parts)
-Help my oldest boy explore the joys of reading. I hope he can find the same doorway to impossible worlds that I have always been able to find through books
-Get a good start on a writing a novel of historical fiction
-Refine my impression of early war 1860-1862 private of the 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry
-Add an impression of a private of the 17th U.S. Regulars all periods of the War of Northern Aggression
-Master the Gillam's and Hardee's School of the Company and Gillem's School of the Colorguard
-Find a good set of orders for my next tour, hopefully Japan definitely overseas
-Decrease my debt load as much as possible
-Finish painting, laying floors, and decorating our house (just in time to move to Japan or somewhere overseas)
-Finish clearing our lot (my house sits on a full acre but half of it is unuseable jungle)
-Make my Bride feel like she is the most important person in the whole world. (She really is, I just need to make sure she is aware of it)
I obviously have my work cut out for me this year, particularly since these are pretty much the same goals I have had for the last couple of year. Ouch! As I look out into the near term future I am pleased with the potential. Many good things are on the horizon, not the least of which is 1/3 of 04 will be tax free! WHOOOHOOO, take that you thieving, bloodsucking IRS jackbooted thugs. Here's to a third of my wages you bastards won't get your greedy hands on!!! It's my money, I traded my time and my skills for it. It does not belong to the poor, It does not belong to the Federal Government, it does not belong to the welfare state. IT IS MINE......I will trouble the IRS to keep their grubby hands off of it!
Kinda lost my train of thought....Now where was I. Oh yes, the potential of the new year.
I hate the concept of growing older but I really enjoy watching my children grow. One of the hardest things about being deployed is not seeing them. By the time I get home, all three of them will be so different! When I left my daughter could speak in barely intelligible sentences but now I can actually understand her. I miss that. Most importantly I know that this year will give me more time to spend with my Bride and my issue and that is the best possible joy. When all is said and done, ensuring my Bride and children's happiness and well being is all that really matters. Everything else is just gravy. HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!
TO THE TYRANT NEVER YIELD
P.S. Rolling naked in large amounts of cash is still most definitely on the goal list!
