Hardtack and Havoc

A private of the 1st Texas Volunteer Infantry Civil War Reenactor with a day job in Uncle Sugar's Navy trapped in the unholy land of New England...I wish I was still in Iraq.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

What a fine Navy Day Christmas morning it is too. The sun is shining, the flies are flying, and those funny techno color beetles are beetling. Everyone one strangely quiet this morning. In the last couple of hours about two thirds of the staff has ambled in and almost no one has spoken a word. I guess all our thoughts are with home and family. The galley has set up block time for the Christmas feast just as they did for thanksgiving. Our block is 1400-1445. I hope we actually have the cohesiveness to hang together at the chow hall. In November most we had a lot of people about to rotate out and then the people like me who just got here. The old salts hung together and the new guys just kind of found their own spots. We do have several new guys with us now but we seem to have a very cohesive group. Unfortunately, one of our number will be rotating in a couple of weeks and his replacement in a female. We will have to go back to watching our Ps and Qs. It was nice being able to act male in the office. Oh well, time to get civilized.

TO THE TYRANT NEVER YIELD
