Take A Moment And Remember.......
The Goliad massacre. On 19 March 1836 a force of 350+ Texians under the command of James Fannin were cornered near Coleto by Generalissimo Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna' Mexican Army. The Texians managed to beat off several determined assaults against their position but the were on the losing end of the logistics fight (remember, tactics win battles, logistics win wars) and they realized it and laid down arms on the morning of 20 March. The prisoners were marched back to Presidio at Goliad were they were interned for 7 days. On Palm Sunday 27 March 1836, 168 years ago today, Santa Anna had the Texian prisoners divided into three groups, marched into the surrounding prairie, and put to the sword. There were few survivors.
