The Yankee Problem In America
He y'all, go on over and read this article (provided by The Rebel Alliance and a fellow Southron trapped in this unholy land, Arklahomboy.) Don't agree on all the salient points but I do believe the thesis is sound. Before y'all discount that as just my irritation with (as my Bride would say "Your irrational prejudice against...") Yankee intransigence speaking, I am loath to admit my deep, dark, ugly secret...There are a fair amount of new england yankees in my woodpile. Uuuggghh, I feel so...Dirty. I'm gonna go take a shower.

About the "Yankee" problem. When, oh when, will some southern peckerheads get over the fact that more than one hundred and thirty-nine years ago, after exhibiting the biggest political mistake ever made in this country and having lost everything their fathers had built for them in order to cling to an unworkable concept of states rights, and the unforgiveable sin of declaring it their "right" to own human beings, they lost the bloodiest war in American history.
Not until I see white men and women line up with their sons and daughters to volunteer the lives of themselves and their offspring into perpetuity as slaves to people of another race will I believe that people who write garbage like this, "It was in this milieu that abolitionism, as opposed to the antislavery sentiment shared by many Americans, including Southerners, had its origins. Abolitionism, despite what has been said later, was not based on sympathy for the black people nor on an ideal of natural rights. It was based on the hysterical conviction that Southern slaveholders were evil sinners who stood in the way of fulfillment of America’s divine mission to establish Heaven on Earth. It was not the Union that our Southern forefathers seceded from, but the deadly combination of Yankee greed and righteousness." by Clyde Wilson, as he describes the "Yankee Problem In America."
If you believe that the concept of original sin came from the Garden of Eden then you might also consider that America's original sin was the establishment of slavery in this country and the compounding of that sin was the willingness of the sons of the South to sacrifice the future of their wives and children to perpetuate that sin.
Those idiots were the problem then, and their followers are the problem now.
Signed, A Yankee liberal who grew up in the South.
