Dark Lords Of Dental

My plan worked and I got my dental appointment moved up to today. It was HORRIBLE. I have never had a cavity before and did not know what to expect. I don't think I have ever been more terrified in my life. There were needles and odors and needles and drills and needles and grinding noise and needles and horrible tastes and needles and even more needles. I would have to say my first filling ever was not a positive experience. The left side of my face was completely numb. When I tried to rinse my mouth out after the procedure, I couldn't hold the liquid, it just drain out my mouth and squirted into my nose for goodness sake. It stayed numb for hours and I kind of wish it stayed. As the anesthetic wore off the ache began. It hurts and I am getting cranky. At least it is done and I can press on with the rest of the screening. Still no official word about going or not. Too much to do...Getting crankier.

Jeez - do what I've gotten away with for >30 years. DO NOT get the shot and ask the dentist to drill carefully. Let he/she know when it hurts so it can be backed off. A good hand with a drill will compensate for the lack of anesthetic but anesthetic won't make up for talent on the drill. I've been drilled by the dentist (minds out of gutter NOW)for over 30 years without using Novacaine...

Of course, being a big sissy, I had nitrous oxide for all 6 of my extractions - but you don't drool after NO2...
