Another Perspective
While the Iraqi prisoner abuse shames all of us in uniform because we hold ourselves to a higher standard of morality and conduct than most, it is important to put out some perspective before the worthless hypocritical blowhards that pass for politicians get their thongs in a twist. I would like to remind them of Point Lookout and House Resolution 97
"The official U.S. policy on Confederate POWs is stated in the preamble to HR 97, passed by both Houses of Congress:
Rebel prisoners in our hands are to be subjected to a treatment finding its parallels only in the conduct of savage tribes and resulting in the death of multitudes by the slow but designed process of starvation and by mortal diseases occasioned by insufficient and unhealthy food and wanton exposure of their persons to the inclemency of the weather."

Note from an X-Navy Yankee. Look outside of the Goroton, New London area for housing. Try Willington, (we would be honored to have you), Mansfield, Hebron, Ashford, Colechester. The commutes will be longer, up to 50 miles, but the rents will be less expensive and have land. They are all fine communities. Good luck, Bruce Carlsen, QM3 USS King DLG-10 '68-'71.
