I made it to Submarine Base New London at about 0200 Sunday morning. It was a miserable, miserable trip. Serious bad kharma was encountered almost as soon as I began my journey. Outbound out of Hampton Roads, I chose to attempt I-64 West to Richmond instead of taking 460 and picking up I-95 in Petersburg. It was a mistake. I was able to enjoy bumper-to-bumper traffic from Newport News all the way to Williamsburg. It took me over 2 hours to go 45 miles. Once on I-95, I made good time until I was once again, brought to a dead stop at Fredericksburg. It was a 10-mile an hour crawl all the way to the north side of the cesspool on the Potomac. North of D.C. things got really, really bad. At Baltimore I hit the first toll plaza. WTF over. I believe the reason that traffic is so screwed up around New York on the Jersey turnpike is those damn toll plazas. You get stopped and robbed just about every twenty miles! The attendants behave like jerks and the absolute worse thing about it are the drivers. Never have I seen such a lack of courtesy, discipline and, dare I say it….humanity! Cars were squirming around the toll plaza like a billion sperm frantically searching for an egg. Unfortunately, I am prejudiced to begin with. I have never had much use for Northern culture. Our friends in the North are quick to point out that people up here just have a different approach to interpersonal relationships. Never the less, I still have no use for Northern culture and the behavior of drivers that I experienced north of Baltimore is why. The North sucks. The countryside around here is absolutely beautiful except for its population. I guess I better get used to it…but I sure a hell ain’t gonna blend in!

Now you know better. The I64 between Newport News and Williamsburg has been under construction for years. Cheer up, at least you're dry, instead of going under water. (No pun intended). "Alex" is "Isabelle's" baby brother. He's making our yard into a lake. At least there isn't any wind and we have power. WooHoo.
