Virginia Supports the Troops
The sixteen hour bus ride to Camp Atterbury SUCKED! Words cannot express the misery involved with unhappy Sailors stuffed onto Greyhound busses for the better part of a whole day. I have sore spots that have sore spots. The Battalion C.O. freaked at one rest stop. We pulled off for a “15” minute break at about 1900 and there was a McDonalds, Subway and Waffle House nearby. We had been told that the chow hall at Camp Atterbury would stay open for us but any of us who had the least dusting of salt on them knew that to be an empty promise. As soon as the doors opened a couple hundred hungry Sailors scattered like roaches in a Mississippi trailer kitchen! It took a good 45 minute to herd up the cats again. I though the CO was going to have an aneurysm. Unfortunately, I was one of the cats that required herding and he had some choice words for me. It was hilarious. The highlight of the Greyhound death march was when the whole convoy got pulled over by the Virginia State Police. Lo and behold he gave every single bus driver a ticket for speeding. By Gosh we gotta get these Sailors off to war but ya better do slow in Virginia cuz Virginia loves the troops

What is up with this? I have heard & read that the VA Troops also did the same to a group of firefighters out of New Jersey going to help with Katerina help. Does the state of VA need that much money.
