Road Rage

One of my new collateral duties here is standing convoy commander for all of our Log runs. Yes Virginia, the Swabbies is running convoys now. On the bright side it means I get to play with cool armored tonka toys with really testosterone impregnated big guns mounted on them. The downside to this is that when you are out running the roads then you are exposed to Johnny Jihad and his explosives fetish. On that note, I heard tell the muj is might environmentally friendly cuz the've been shyin' away from gas guzzling, air polluting VBIEDs (spoken Car Bomb in English) in favor of much more environmentally sound Bicycle and Donkey born IEDs (Somebody call Super Mario, we got Donkey Bombs here!). Maybe they can't get car insurance anymore. I wonder if they have heard of GEICO. I reckon they're trying to get on the good side of the environmentalist whackos but then they might have gone and burned some bridges with PETA with that whole donkey based weapons system thing. Anyway I ran my first convoy yesterday doing my "right seat ride" training with units old convoy team. It was an interesting experience. Like most convoys nothing bad happened but I can say I was pumped on adrenalin anyway! I thought it was interesting how well trained the populace is. They see us coming down the middle of the road, they head for the pea patch lickity split. It's like living the best road rage fantasy you ever had! We all came back with the proper number of fingers and toes so I would call that a successful run. I guess we have transition from Sailors Naval Infantry and on to Mechanized Naval Infantry WooooHOOOO! Navy...It's not just a job, its accelerating your life in convoy adventures...or something like that. The really cool part is that I get to chose our new call sign. So far the suggestions (primarily from the Army personnel on the team) have been like Seaman 6, Sea Legs 6 and Salty Dog 6. I am kinda leanin' towards Squid 6 just cuz if we ever do get all blowed up I might just ink myself.
