I'm Baaaack!

Well at least I reported home with the appropriate pasty white, faint radioactive glow, submariner's tan. Lord knows if I had dared returned from the Bahamas with a tan I would have been summarily executed on the spot! It wasn't actually a pleasure trip after all and I was only in the Bahamas long enough to meet the Life Sucking Black Pig. On the return trip I was only on the island long enough to catch the next flight off, so it really wasn't like I went to the Bahamas. Actually, on the flight in, there I was riding a little puddle jumper from West Palm to the islands and it suddenly occurs to me....Hey were flying right into the Bermuda Triangle....WTF over! Obviously, I was not sucked up by some weired space time anomaly....Or was I....Hmmm, it boggles them mind. Well, my ride went extremely well, mission accomplished. Chalk one up for the good guys and all that crap. The boat was so stuffed with riders (all of us there to help of course. After all we were from the cognizant immediate superior in command and all) that as an O4 I was berthed in the forward crews berthing. I don't think I have actually been in the forward kennel before. It was more comfortable than the Iron Cross in the nine man. At least I could get in my rack without needing to dislocate a major joint or two. Overall, it was a very good ride! Unfortunately, I lost the zip off legs to the only Civvy pants I brought and had to return to the frickin' frigid north in shorts. That and all my luggage (including me) reeked of boat and it was questionable whether my Bride was gonna actually let me in the house until I was hosed off. The issue was in doubt until I was able to convince her it was too difficult to find a garden hose...THAT AND IT WAS LIKE 15 DEGREES OUTSIDE. She did, however, make me strip down but naked in the mud room and go straight to the shower. She has never enjoyed the scent of boat. I can tell she loves me!!!!! If she didn't she woulda turned garden hose on me and made me role the stink off in the snow!

A New Start & Why!!

Hi! I am not real happy with life right now and I am not very happy with myself so I'm doing something about it. I am sharing this with the world because I want people out there to know they are not alone with problems. Sometimes I think I am the only one in the universe faced with certain problems so I decide to share my issues with the world just in case someone out there has the same issues and will not feel as alone as I often do. I am not complaining I am just sharing my feelings and my thought process.
I can not seem to keep the house clean. Unfortunantly, this really bothers Ed and I mean REALLY BOTHERS ED. He says a clean house is what grounds him. He needs neatness and order (he is not here to take up for himself). I have not been able to, and probably never will be able to, fulfill this need. I am not a neat and organized person. I am very messy person. I just completed a class on organizing your house. I talked one of my neighbors into going with me (her husband is a neat freak too, so we are kind of simpatico on this). I am make a real effort to make friends and ground myself here. My neighbor -- the more we talk -- the more we find we are alike and our husbands are equally anal...compuslive....NUTS! We decided we needed more help so we did some research and are trying out new systems not just to organize our house but to clean it. We are using each other as support and are trying to be accountable to each other. We started yesterday. Now, I have some one to talk to each day. That is nice. I doubt we will call each other over the weekend. She has four kids so we both understand the demands of yard monkeys. She is able to maintain a strick schedule though. I have not but but I am still working on it. I have some problems but me not going to let this stop me. I am even working as I write this, my stuff is soaking in the sink to get it to clean. I have to work really hard because when Ed gets home I kind of just stop. I have this problem that I think he should take over and do everything because I have had to do everything while he was gone. I kind of feel the need to punish him for being away. I know this is wrong but I still do it, I can't seem to help myself. So, I am going to try to stop this cycle. I know I need a break but I can not push it all on him and it is not like he doesn't carry his own weight with the chores when he is home. I have been very bitter and angry. I do not know why. But I do not like it. I have tried to change it. I have not been able to do this to date either, but I am still working on it. I think maybe accomplishing something will help. I will feel better about myself if I can accomplish something. You know that statement "When Mommy is not happy then no one is happy" this is proven true around here. I am affecting not only myself but Chaos, Mayhem and Entropy as well. I have to set an example for them. My son is having a really hard time with things. My husband says that he is angry at him and sublimating it to me. He says that was exactly how he was when he was a boy and his father was away with the Air Force. I am getting him professional help but I have to set an example for him as well. So!...Today (the first day of the rest of my life, yesterdays failures do not count but as an example of what does not work) I begin. I will get the house in order and my life on a schedule. I have a plan. I am starting. It can be done. My sink is soaking and so it begins.

Well I must sign off. I will report back and let you know how it is going. It is a busy day with errands. All the kids have classes -- Dance, Martial arts, & club scout today. Must get to it. Have a great day. I hope you get what you need accomplished. Find the problem, come up with a plan and then execute it. Little Steps. We can do it!!

Ed is gone! I am jealous!

Ed is gone for a while and will not be blogging. I am so jealous! He is somewhere, where there is no snow and plenty of warm sunshine. I have had it with snow!! I want to be warm. I love the warm weather. Ed will be back and I know he isn't having any fun doing what he is doing.

Ed told me not to write while he was gone cause I do not write good English. Hell, I can barely command the written word. Therefore I will indeed be writing and he can clean up my spelling and grammar later. The last weekend in February, we went to my friends beautiful wedding. Her family is awesome. They had a sitter for the kids at her brother house, and they wouldn't take any money. We were able to go to the wedding and reception without Chaos, Mayhem and Entropy. I think it is the first time in a long time without our kids....IT WAS BLISS! My friend's parents let us stay with then at their house which was built in the early 1700's. It is a beautiful home. Oh...To the wedding. My friend asked Ed to wear his Sailor Suit and to my surprise he actually relented and agreed to do it. He said anything for my friend. He was very uncomfortable because he stood out being the only person in a military uniform in a non-military place chock full O' New England yankees. My friends late husband served as a Junior Officer in the same squadron with my husband. They were casual friends mainly because she and I were so close. Everyone was so nice, it was refreshing to see some many nice people up here in New England. Especially a place even more New Englandy than Connecticut. . I am not as rabidly anti-North as my husband. People are people. I am developing a healthly anti-cold prejudice though.

My friend is such an amazing woman. She has done everything and apparently she can do anything. After she was left widowed and destitute, she started her own business that has been incredibly successful too. She is also a great mother. Her husband died several years back and she was forced to support herself and her son. She thought she would like to dog sled so she read a book and start sledding with dogs. She decided she needed to raise her own sled dogs so she red a book on that and started raising champion dogs. One day she decided bee keeping would be fun, therefore, she read a book and started the bee thing. She doesn't care for honey so she donates it to her church which uses it for fund raising. She needed money in the past so she snow plowed. She gardens, she remodeled and restored her own 19th century home. You name it she does it. She is so very sweet. She has re-done her own 1800's house. I am amazed at everything she can do especially since all she does is find a book on the subject, read it and then she can do it. I wish I could do that. She does not let anything stop her like death, lack of education (which she has since gained -- She earned a degree while running a business, single parent, and all)

The Price Of Freedom

March 6, 1836 the Alamo fell. True to Santa Anna's word, the garrison was put to the sword but not before they tore the heart out of the Mexican army setting the stage for San Jacinto. God Bless the Republic born of their blood!
